About TCM and Chinese Herbal Medicine (According to AI)

Chinese herbal medicine, a core component of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), uses natural plants, herbs, and sometimes minerals and animal products, to restore balance and promote health. It's based on the idea of harmonizing the body's energy (Qi) through a holistic approach that considers the individual's unique imbalances.

Key aspects of Chinese herbal medicine:

  • Holistic approach:

TCM practitioners assess the entire person, not just their symptoms, to identify imbalances that might be causing illness.

  • Balance and harmony:

The goal is to restore balance between the opposing forces of Yin and Yang, which are believed to be vital for health, according to the Better Health Channel.

  • Five elements:

The theory of the five elements (wood, fire, earth, metal, and water) is used to understand how different aspects of the body, like organs and emotions, are connected and how imbalances can affect health.

  • Herbal formulas:

Rather than single herbs, Chinese herbal medicine often utilizes complex formulas that combine multiple herbs to work synergistically.

  • Individualized treatment:

Herbal prescriptions are tailored to the specific needs of each patient, taking into account their unique constitution and symptoms.

  • Various forms:

Herbs are often prepared as teas, decoctions (soups), or in pill or powder form.

How it differs from Western medicine:

  • Focus on patterns:

TCM emphasizes understanding the patterns of symptoms and imbalances rather than focusing on individual diseases or infections.

  • Holistic view of the body:

TCM considers the body as an interconnected system, while Western medicine often focuses on specific organs or systems.

  • Emphasis on prevention:

TCM emphasizes lifestyle practices and dietary adjustments to promote health and prevent illness

What is Acupuncture? (According to AI)

Acupuncture is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) technique where thin needles are inserted into specific points on the body to stimulate certain areas and relieve various health conditions. The goal is to restore balance to the body's energy flow, known as qi, and promote healing.

Here's a more detailed explanation:

  • What it is:

Acupuncture involves inserting fine needles, usually made of stainless steel, into specific points along the body's meridians (energy pathways).

  • How it works:

According to TCM, acupuncture helps by:

    • Rebalancing the body's energy (qi) flow, which is believed to be disrupted in illness.

    • Stimulating the body's nervous and immune systems.

    • Releasing natural pain-relieving chemicals like endorphins.

  • Types of acupuncture:

There are various forms of acupuncture, including:

    • Traditional acupuncture: Uses thin needles inserted into specific points.

    • Electroacupuncture: Uses electrical stimulation on the needles.

    • Acupressure: Uses pressure instead of needles on the same points.

  • Uses and benefits:

Acupuncture is used to treat a wide range of conditions, including:

    • Pain relief (chronic pain, headaches, knee pain, menstrual cramps).

    • Stress and anxiety.

    • Sports injuries.

    • Nerve pain.

  • Safety and side effects:

Acupuncture is generally considered safe for most people when performed by a qualified practitioner. However, possible side effects can include soreness, bruising, or bleeding at the insertion sites, or in rare cases, infection

Patient Testimonials

See what our patients say about their experiences with us.

I experienced severe nerve pain and minor infection in relation with a tooth implant. I had to have a tooth implant in 2011. Over the years I experienced periods with pain and discomfort, but end of February 2018 it became unbearable. The dentist could not find any obvious reason for the pain, but recommended the implant to be removed.

I decided to go the conservative route and rather stimulate my body's ability to heal and correct the imbalance with a holistic approach.

Dr. Jagjivan previously helped me correct a hormonal imbalance, and I felt confident he was going to find a cure this time too. His extended and broad knowledge about health, together with dedication and excellent care makes him one of the most talented practitioners I know. He is very thorough, and the combination of Chinese herbs, acupuncture, nutrition, supplements and general lifestyle advice helped me recover.

I can highly recommend Dr. Jagjivan.

I went to see Dr. Vinay after a hand injury and having been diagnosed with yet another stomach ulcer. The hand injury was severe and quite complicated. I have also suffered from chronic migraines for a number of years. Using a combination of acupuncture, herbs and light therapy he assisted me enormously in this long journey I was on. I saw a physiotherapist weekly and she was amazed at the progress my hand was making.

We also made significant progress with my stomach and headaches. I was able to stop using proton pump inhibitors which was quite a feat after being on them for more than 3 years.

Dr Vinay I salute you! Your kindness, compassion and caring are a rarity in this world. You always go way beyond the call of duty. Thank you.
